Oocyte donation

This procedure is used in cases when the ovaries do not produce their own eggs (due to functional insufficiency, developmental anomalies, premature exhaustion of functional ovaries or the menopause), and also in cases of repeated unsuccessful IVF y due to a poor embryo quality.

The donor service eggs which are used also have the risk of carrying hereditary illnesses.

According to the recommendations of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine (ASRM) and European Society for Human Reproduction and Embryology (ESHRE) the donor should be under 35 years of age with good physical and mental health. All donors are medically checked for histories of cancer, heart problems, kidney disease, mental disease, alcoholism or drug abuse.

The programme of a donor service is anonymous. The family which is using the donor eggs is not allowed to see a photograph of the donor and is informed only about: height, weight, colour of hair and eyes, nationality, education, presence of family and children as well as blood type..

It is desirable that the age of the female recipient of the donor eggs should be no more than fifty. The donor does not receive any information about the recipient. The -recipient is also examined by a psychotherapist who provides the doctor with their conclusions on the absence of any contraindication for pregnancy.

Efficiency of embryo placement in a group of patients even exceeds a little a comparable group of patients undergoing the usual IVF programme, achieving 50 to 60% in a cycle.
